How SImmetry® works
Everything you need to know about the SImmetry procedure.
SI fusion
SImmetry is an SI fusion procedure. This means an implant is used, which is designed to:
- Keep your SI joint from moving
Give you immediate relief
- Provide long-term stability
The SImmetry procedure is different from other treatment options because it creates a true fusion of your SI joint. Although this is the gold standard when it comes to spinal procedures, not all treatment options provide fusion. In addition, SImmetry is minimally invasive, which can lead to a much shorter recovery time compared to other fusion techniques.
SImmetry works in a three-step process:
First, cartilage is removed, encouraging your body’s own healing process
Then, bone graft material creates a bridge for your body to create new bone
Finally, screws are inserted to keep your SI joint in place, for immediate and long-term pain relief
The SImmetry procedure has resulted in a significant reduction of pain within 12 months.1

How does SImmetry stack up?
Although there are other SI fusion procedures, SImmetry provides clear benefits.
The SImmetry procedure
True fusion
Immediate relief
Long-term stability
Minimally invasive
Other procedures
Only stabilize, don’t fuse
Take time to feel relief
Can move over time, leading to pain
Longer procedure and recovery time
